::: Where can I download Bit Torrent? :::

You can download the standard Bit Torrent client here.

You can download the Bit Tornado client here.

There are also other clients that have different features. These are the two that we recommend, but you can use another if you'd like.

::: What's wrong with my Bit Torrent? :::

Here are some common questions and answers regarding Bit Torrent:

Q: Why does my download never seem to complete on Bit Torrent?

A: Always check to make sure there are plenty of Seeds/Peers before downloading a file. You can check this on our torrent homepage found in the menu to the left. All you need is one Seed to complete a download.

Q: Why do I sometimes get the message "bad info" (or something similar) that looks like something is wrong on my Bit Torrent client?

A: The problem is you're having trouble connecting to other peers through the tracker. This is not a problem with the torrent site, the torrent or the file. Simply wait it out or try stopping and restarting your torrent.

Q: Why is my download speed so slow?

A: Many ISPs are blocking and/or throttling the standard ports that BitTorrent uses to connect to other peers. If you are getting slow speeds on a torrent that has a large number of seeds and peers you may want to try configuring your BT client to connect on other ports. Otherwise your ISP may be restricting your usage of BitTorrent.

Q: Why aren't there more seeds for episodes of [series] on Bit Torrent?

A: Right now it is very difficult for us to attempt to maintain seeded torrents given that we (the staff and distro) do this ourselves with our own connections. Nearly all of our releases are currently torrented and on the torrent page. If you are looking for something and it is not there yet and it is marked in our "Series" section, please visit the IRC channel to download it. It is also possible that the episode(s) in question is not yet released.

::: Where can I download an IRC client like mIRC? :::

You can download the standard mIRC here.

You can download SysReset here. SysReset allows you to serve files and has several useful additional options.

Obviously there are other ways to access IRC. These are simply the programs we recommend.

::: Where are you located on IRC? :::

If you already know how to use IRC, WolfPackProductions can be found here:

Server: irc.ZiRC.org
Channel: #WolfPackProductions

Be sure to read the !rules when you get there if you are not already familiar with them. And be sure to read the topic for other important information!

::: I'm new to IRC. How do I use this program? :::

If you've never used mIRC before, this quick tutorial will help you through your initial use.

First, run mIRC from the directory you installed it to. By default, mIRC installs to C:\mIRC\mirc.exe
Upon opening the program, a small "About mIRC" window will appear. Click "continue" and move on. Note, after 30 days, when this pops up, the continue button will be grey at first. Wait a few moment and it will become clickable.

Now there will be window that opens called "mIRC Options". It is currently on the "connect" options. Fill out the information. Try to choose a unique nickname, because the one you first try might be taken already.
Here is an example:

Next, select the "servers" section in the listing. You will want to add ZiRC to the list of servers, so click Add on this screen:

Fill in the settings below and click Add. Just leave the 'password' field blank.

It will have automatically selected ZiRC for you, so all you need to do now is click the "Connect to Server" button. You'll see a lot of text scroll by. This is all information about the server and any other messages the server operators may want you to read. If you've never used IRC before, you may want to scroll back up and read this stuff.
If any "mIRC Favorites" window pops up, go ahead and close that. If you don't want it appearing each time you connect, uncheck "Pop up favorites on connect" at the bottom and hit "ok".
The window with all of the information that scrolled by is the status window. In that window, type the following to enter WPP's channel:
/join #wolfpackproductions

Did a new window pop up? Congratulations, you are now in WolfPackProductions' IRC channel!

The list to the right is all of the other people currently connected to the channel. Anybody who has a @ symbol next to their name is a channel operator. Anybody with a % symbol is a channel half-operator. They're the guys who run the place. Anybody with a + next to their name is 'voiced'. The operators give 'voice' to the people who serve files in the channel. Those without symbols are the average users, leechers, and chatters that make up the channel. Read the topic and be sure to type !rules if you've never been in there before.

Feel free to talk. Don't be too shocked or insulted if nobody else speaks right away. They may be asleep, at school, or out to get you. I mean... eating dinner.
As you can see from the image just above, it will tell you as people join the channel, leave the channel, or change their nickname.

Now that you're connected to ZiRC and have entered the channel, you may wish to register your nick. Most users do this because then nobody else will be allowed to use their nickname. For more information, click back over to the status window and type: /nickserv help

It's a helpful tip to always type important commands in the status window, especially if it involves typing your password. This is just in case you do something wrong by accident, such as leaving off the "/" in front of the command. You wouldn't want everybody to see your password, right?

::: How do I download files from servers in your channel? :::

This short tutorial is provided for those who do not know how to download files using IRC. Since you will be searching for the files by yourself, be sure to be familiar with these basic rules before throwing commands around:

::: No @find - Don't type this at all or you will be automatically banned.

::: Please do not ask where to find files. Everybody else searches for them on their own, you can too. :)

::: Do not ask when episodes will be released. This applies to everybody.

: General Settings :

ZiRC automatically assigns a special mode "x" to its users. This mode scrambles your IP address and can cause problems with downloading. If you have issues, type the following into your status window before attempting to download: //mode $me -x
This removes mode x and should fix the issue.

By default, mIRC comes with certain download restrictions in place. You will need to change them before downloading. If you use SysReset you don't need to bother with them since it comes with all these settings ready for you.

In the top menu, click on Tools > Options. (or you can click the little folder with a hammer icon)

In the Category listing to the left, select DCC.

For the 'On Send request' option, set it to 'auto-get file' (a warning may appear at this point, select 'Yes') and check the box for 'Minimize'. This way, when a file attempts to send to you, your client will accept it automatically, even if you are not around.
Change the 'If file exists' option to 'resume'. This will make it so that if you already downloaded some of the file earlier (possibly because you were disconnected during download), your client will pick up where it left off.
For the 'On Chat request' option, you may choose any of the options as long as it is NOT 'Ignore All'. If you select that, you will be unable to download from file servers.
The image above shows the correct settings.

Next, click the little '+' symbol next to DCC to expand all available options. Click on 'Ignore' to bring up those options.

For the 'Method' select 'disabled'. Otherwise, your client will ignore attempts to send you things.
Then you must uncheck the 'Turn ignore back on in' box, so that it will not automatically turn itself back on.
The above image shows the correct settings.

Click "OK", you are done with the general settings.

: Using File Servers :
Go to #WolfPackProductions and type the following to the channel: !list
This will cause anybody who is serving files to display their file server ad to you. There are going to be a lot, so be prepared for the screen to scroll up quickly.

Here is a sample of what a typical !list might get you:

Expect a large listing of ads to appear.

Now, we will look at one of those ads in detail to teach you how to queue and download files.

This is a single file server ad. In order to enter the file server you must type one of the triggers located in the ad. Notice that this ad has several triggers, each of them for something different. In case you cannot tell, here are the trigger present in the ad:

/ctcp Zippo[sleep] Digimon
/ctcp Zippo[sleep] Rockman EXE Axess
/ctcp Zippo[sleep] Sonic X
/ctcp Zippo[sleep] Transformers
/ctcp Zippo[sleep] Music

Let's say we are looking for some Rockman.EXE Axess. We would proceed to type the trigger into the channel window. While in mIRC, highlighting text automatically copies it to the clipboard, ready for you to paste. Thus, there is NO NEED to press ctrl + c. Simply highlight the trigger (and ONLY the trigger) and then ctrl + v it into the textbox. If you accidently copy anything extra, it will not work correctly.

Once you have typed the trigger and hit enter, a window like this will pop up:

Now that you are here, you'll want a list of files and folders. Make sure you read the rules of the server, then go ahead and type dir. This will bring up a list of files and folders for you to choose from. It should look something like this:

The line in all CAPS and without any file extention is a folder. If I wanted to enter that folder, I would type cd ROCKMAN.EXE AXESS 1-13 and hit enter. I would then type dir again to see what was in that folder. If you ever need to back out of a folder, just type cd .. and press enter.
However, I really want to download Axess episode 20! To get the file you type get filename.ext and press enter. Do not include the file size. In this example, I would type get [wpp]rockman_exe_axess_-_20_[8c5f8b1a].avi
Your file may or may not send now. If it does, just sit back and wait for it to finish.
If it tells you that it is "Adding your file to queue slot # and that the file will send when the next send slot is open", you are now in line. Obviously the people who serve can't send to everybody at once, so there are queues. If you are added to a queue, it means there is already somebody downloading from that person and you are now in line to get a file. Simply wait until it is your turn. If you are set to automatically accept files, you don't have to actually sit there and watch it. It will send when it is ready to.
To view a list of queues, simply type queues while browsing the file server. If you want to see current sends, you just type sends.
If you change your mind about getting a file, type clr_queues to clear all of the files you have queued in that file server.
Also, don't worry if you see a "Closing Idle connection in 30 seconds" message. The file server window does not need to remain open to download your file. If the session does close before you are done, simply re-type the trigger into the channel.

Now that you have queued your file, remember:
» Stay in the channel! If you are not there when the send is attempted, it will not work.
» You may change your nick if you want, file servers can track your changed nicks.
» If you get disconnected, be sure to reconnect in the same nick, otherwise the file server will have lost track of you.
There is no limit to the number of servers where you can have files queued, so you can access other servers while you're waiting for your downloads to begin.
